Today, I have learnt the behaviour of beams of protons, neutrons and electrons in an electric field. It has to apply Fleming's Left-hand Rule. I have also learnt the S(ingapore), P(olice), D(efence) and F(orce). The four alphabets are type of subshells. Orbituals is not equivalent to electon shell. Principal quantum number refers to electron shell. Tam yabun....

    Hi Daojian,

    We only apply Fleming's Left-hand Rule for behaviour of beams of protons/neutrons and electrons in magnetic field, which i din't go through in today's lesson.

    For electric field, just note that the positively charged proton will move to the negative plate and vice versa for negatively charged electron. We also have to understand that the angel of deflection is proportional to charge/mass (can also refer to the qn in tutorial 3 part B). Also well done in coming out with the SPDF notation for the orbitals.

    p.s. sorry for holding you back after chem lesson and making you late for your phy class. I will explain that to your phy tutor Mr. Tan tmr morning :)
