Atomic structure

From the Wednesday lesson, i have totally understand the how to interpret the distribution of electrons and will be able to draw the electronic structure as a simple diagram. i also know the representation of orbitals as boxes with the electrons. In notation, energy level is in my LHS, type of orbital in middle, and number of orbitals in my top RHS. e.g.1s2. From chemguide, i am not fully understood with the reason of I.E. across the row and down the group but i know the sucessive ionisation energies of an element.
